Purposes: Physicians and administrative staffs have different obligations; physicians can have different philosophy\nand value systems from that of administrative staffs. Therefore, the purposes of this study are: (1) to determine the ways in\nwhich the congruence or divergence of values impact upon employee attitudes; and (2) to investigate the moderating role of\nprofessionalism in the physiciansââ?¬â?¢ work values.\nMethod: Total of 86 questionnaires was gathered from physicians and staff. This study used previous design developed\nby Chiu in Taiwan. Polynomial regression was used for multi-dimension value congruence effects.\nResult: The fit between actual and desired values does not necessarily lead to higher levels of job satisfaction and\norganizational commitment. The moderating effect of professionalism on fit and attitude only applied to ââ?¬Ë?personal respectââ?¬â?¢\nand job satisfaction, plus fit on ââ?¬Ë?profit orientationââ?¬â?¢ and organizational commitment.\nConclusion: Any future research in this area should attempt to include other possible intervening variables in the\nrelationship of fit to values and attitude. It is proposed that the hospital should adopt an appropriate competitive strategy\nthat might enable it to achieve a fair compensation system and reasonable profit, and thereby ensure that it can retain the\nservices of its attending physicians....
Literature on the effect of directors and officers insurance (D&O insurance) on managers\ndecision-making supports the contention that D&O insurance encourages managers to engage\nin opportunistic behaviors that benefit themselves at the expense of shareholders. Managerial\nmyopia is an essential agency issue. The literature suggests that myopic managers have\nincentives to reduce R&D spending to boost current earnings in order to increase their private\nbenefits. This study examines whether D&O insurance induces myopic R&D cuts. Using a\nsample of Taiwanese listed firms, the results show that firms with higher levels of D&O\ninsurance coverage are more likely to cut R&D expenditures to avoid earnings declines. This\nstudy provide insight into how the incentives arising from D&O insurance play an essential\nrole in determining managerial myopic behavior....
This paper focuses on future sustainable and responsible tourism products in the Northwest of Tunisia and the\nnon-developed, naturally and historically rich zone of the mountain of Jendouba and its 13 villages (douars). The\nlatter can be considered as a big potential for the country to move to a new era of tourism.\nThe methodology used consists of three stages: to diagnose the selected regions potentials, then to conduct a\nbenchmarking evaluation of similar international regions according to specific factors such as positioning strategies\napplied in the latter, finally, to pinpoint the adequate strategies to be implemented in the Northwest of Tunisia.\nThe main results conclude that although Tunisia is perceived as a cheap seaside tourism destination, an in-depth\ndiagnosis of the country, which starts with a simple global observation of the Tunisian map, results on several issues\nleading to structured tourism, new types of tourists arrivals to the country looking for alternative tourism products and\nthe impending wealth raise of the selected zones....
